How to Gather the Courage to Begin Something New
Change is frightening, but it is a normal part of life
Change is difficult, especially now, when one in every three people is diagnosed with anxiety.
I imagine that the remaining two-thirds of people experience stress in their lives.
The continual pressure to ‘keep up with the Kardashians,’ express how happy we are on social media, and put on a pleasant face may be difficult, if not frightening.
So, how do we adapt when change is scary? When is change unknown? When does the mere prospect of change immobilize us?
Start moving
We will not be able to achieve the changes we desire in our lives if we remain trapped in a state of constant anxiety.
All the what-ifs and worst-case scenarios of the unknown will continue to paralyze us, preventing us from moving forward.
Start moving. We crumble when we allow anxiety to rise and overpower our ability to think.
The options’ weight and potential consequences grow as we dwell on the emotions they evoke.
Try something different. Something tangible. Go on a walk. Be artistic. Be spiritual. Write something. Try something new.
You will acquire self-confidence when you follow through on your promises and ambitions. It will become easier every time you get up.
Set a small goal and stick to it to begin
Establish a daily objective to tidy your bed each morning. Even if you know you’ll get back into it later, make it for yourself.
Making your bed in the morning helps to calm the chaos of life and the anxiety of the unknown.
Set a goal of applying for new jobs every day. Jobs that will provide you delight and satisfaction.
It’s scary to attempt new things, but the more you do, the easier they’ll get.
Choosing yourself when the world tells you to prioritize everyone else’s needs may feel wrong, but listening to your instincts will reveal what is truly bad.
Try something new, whether it’s a new talent, trade, or pastime; they’ll all educate you more about yourself and help you make better judgments in the future.
Heck, try some new foods! The more things you attempt, the more you extend your horizons and open yourself up to new experiences.
“You are never too old to start over. Every day is a chance to make changes to create the life we want.” — Karon Waddell
Change your perspective on the item you want to change in your life.
Whatever is holding you back in life, try looking at it from a third-party perspective.
Also, if nervousness is holding you back, consider this situation’s worst, best, and most feasible outcomes. Seeing the truth about a problem helps to reduce anxiety and allows us to go on.
If you’re thinking about going to the gym, instead of worrying about how stupid you’ll appear or how other people will criticize you, remember that everyone there, no matter how they look, wants the same thing as you: to improve.
If someone is looking around judging, it says more about them than it does about you.
If you’re attempting to eat better, instead of focusing on what you’re giving up, consider what you’re getting by making healthier choices for your body.
Changing our perspective helps us overcome the challenges that life throws at us. It allows us to view things more clearly than through the lens that has kept us stationary.
Self-reflection
Take the time to consider the adjustments you wish to make and the reasons behind them.
Is it to make your ex jealous? Is it because you’ve had enough of being sick and tired? Why do you wish to change? What is the driving force?
Make sure you’re trying something new for yourself. Do it to make yourself happy.
It would help if you pursued this action because you are worthy of experiencing happiness. Do it because you are worth it, no matter how others make you feel.
When you start to feel like you can’t or don’t want to continue, remind yourself of how fantastic it will feel once you push through it. When you get up, choose for yourself anyway.
Seek thankfulness in all things
Change can be intimidating but is an inherent part of existence. It isn’t easy, but everyone goes through it. See the good in things that worry you. See the positive aspects of the changes and challenges.
Reflect on inquiries such as, “What knowledge have I acquired from this experience?” “What will I learn from this?”
When the overwhelm of change sets in, keep a journal or tabs in your notes to remind yourself of your accomplishments.
Everyone’s journey and demands are unique, and it’s critical to recognize that what you require for yourself is slightly different.
It could include affirmations, writing, mediation, and so on. You have the responsibility to create your envisioned self. So, do what you need and make your own choices.
When the weight of our daily life begins to weigh on us, we tend to allow the world in and lose sight of the goals we set for ourselves.
Consider the reasons and individuals for whom you are undertaking this endeavor: YOURSELF. Remember what you are gaining. Remember that you deserve this.
